Gap, Inc.Gap Inc. is one of the world’s largest specialty retailers, with more than 3,100 stores and 150,000 employees around the globe. In 2006, in an effort to educate and motivate employees to live healthy, the company piloted a wellness initiative at its distribution centers. The wellness initiative targeted weight loss, physical activity, and tobacco cessation. The American Cancer Society’s Active for Life® and Quitline® programs were selected to meet the physical activity and smoking cessation needs of the wellness initiative because of the ease of program implementation and the recognition of the Society brand.
